Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, NIMC Chart Course for Stronger Digital Identity System in Lagos

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday hosted the management of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) at Lagos House, Marina, to discuss new developments aimed at building a more inclusive and efficient identity management system.
The discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between NIMC and the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) to create a seamless and robust digital identity framework for Lagosians.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of digital identity in driving development, service delivery, and inclusion, noting that a reliable system would improve access to social services, strengthen security, and expand opportunities in the digital economy.
“We remain committed to building a robust and inclusive digital identity ecosystem for all Lagosians,” the governor said.
Impact
The collaboration between Lagos and NIMC is expected to fast-track the integration of residents into national and state databases, enhance planning and resource allocation, and enable Lagosians to access services more easily across sectors like healthcare, education, and financial inclusion.
