Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Marks Two Years of Blue Line Operations, Announces Fare Reduction

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has celebrated the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, highlighting its achievements and announcing a special fare reduction to mark the milestone.
Since its launch two years ago, the Blue Line has safely transported more than five million passengers without a single accident. With trains running every ten minutes and completing over 90 trips daily, the service has transformed commuting in Lagos, reducing travel times and easing movement across the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed pride and gratitude to Lagosians for their trust and support, emphasizing that the success of the Blue Line reflects collective dedication to building a “Greater Lagos.”
“These achievements show that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” the governor said.
To commemorate the anniversary, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced a 50% reduction in fares on the Blue Line for Thursday, September 4, 2025, encouraging those who have not yet experienced the service to take advantage of the offer.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure that improves lives, stating:
“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire, building a city where moving around is easier, safer, and faster. Together, we are shaping the Lagos of our future.”
The Lagos Blue Line is one of the state’s flagship transportation projects, designed to ease congestion and set the foundation for a modern, efficient rail system in Africa’s most populous city.
